2020 Grand Chess Tour

Sinquefield Cup

The Sinquefield Cup is an elite international chess event and brings a classical GCT event to Saint Louis. This year, it's the last stop of the tour, and will feature all 10 of the full tour participants. Over the course of nine rounds, these competitors will battle for $325,000 in prize money, points toward the Grand Chess Tour, and the coveted title of 2020 Sinquefield Cup Champion.

Croatia Rapid & Blitz

The Croatia Rapid & Blitz is the third stop on the GCT, and second rapid and blitz tournament. Much like GCT Paris, this tournament will also feature seven out of ten full tour participants and three wildcard players competing in 9 rounds of rapid chess and 18 rounds of blitz chess for a total prize fund of $150,000.

 

 

Paris Rapid & Blitz

The Paris Rapid & Blitz tournament will be the second event on the 2020 GCT tour and the first of three rapid and blitz tournaments. Held again at the Vivendi offices in downtown Paris, this tournament will feature seven of the ten full tour participants with three wildcards. Like last year's format, competitors will square off in 9 rounds of rapid chess and 18 rounds of blitz chess for a total prize fund of $150,000.

Superbet Chess Classic

Superbet Classic Chess Romania is confirmed as the first tournament of the 2020 GCT season. The event returns for the second year with a change, moving from a rapid & blitz format to classical chess. As a classical tournament, all 10 GCT players will contest a round robin for a prize fund of $325,000.

2020 Grand Chess Tour

The sixth edition of the Grand Chess Tour (GCT) will feature five tournaments with the participation of ten full tour players and ten wildcards. Tour participants will compete for a total prize fund of $1.275 million over the course of the season. The prize money on offer for two classical tournaments will be $325,000 per event while the prize fund for the rapid and blitz events will be $150,000 each.
