Magnus Carlsen is the reigning five-time World Champion and current World No.1. After becoming the youngest ever to reach the top position at the age of 19, Carlsen earned the highest FIDE rating of all-time (2882) and has stayed at No. 1 for over 11 years. Carlsen became World Champion in 2013, after defeating Vishwanathan Anand in a classical 12-game match. He then successfully defended his title against Anand in 2014, before defeating Sergei Karjakin (2016), Fabiano Caruana (2018), and Ian Nepomniachtchi (2021) in subsequent World Championship Matches. Magnus is also a four-time World Rapid Champion, six-time World Blitz Champion, and two-time Grand Chess Tour Winner.
