Magnus Carlsen is a Norwegian chess Grandmaster. He earned his Grandmaster title in 2004, and is the current World Chess Champion. In November 2013, Carlsen became World Champion by defeating Viswanathan Anand, and have reigned over the chess world ever since. He is also a 3-time World Rapid Chess Champion (2014, 2015, 2019) and 5-time World Blitz Chess Champion (2009, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019). In 2014, Carlsen became the first player to hold all three world titles simultaneously, a feat he repeated in 2019.
